It’s so hot. Did I say that last week? I’ve been sheltering in place, doing little, retreating to the cool corners of my darkest room. As an adult with your own home, one must bear the burden of air conditioning responsibility, not just to reduce the electric bill, but also to preserve the unit (especially if it is old). If you don’t know how much a new air conditioning unit is I hope you never find out. Anyway, I write to you between the cyclical dance of turning off the AC to preserve it, getting too hot, and grumpily blasting it again.

Onto the bits!

  1. Our master bathroom renovation is in full-swing. I may have mentioned, and more on this to come, but we’re doing it all ourselves because that’s just the brand of masochists we are. Now we’re not doing anything crazy, not even re-doing any plumbing or moving anything around, but we’re tackling tiling, flooring, refinishing pretty much everything else, and swapping out fixtures. Sam is taking point on the actually doing-of-things, but I’m the research gal, responsible for researching the right type of say, nailer to get (brad, pneumatic, 18-gauge) or sourcing materials or finding the very best YouTube has to offer on instruction and sending complicated, time-stamped emails to my husband as he works throughout the day. It’s back-breaking work. Anywho, my point is to share my very favorite DIY-guy on the Internet, Jeff. I love Jeff. His YouTube channel, Home Renovision DIY, has been our top resource for past projects and continues to be a guiding light in this new chapter. I have watched hours and hours of his content, especially back when I painted the entire interior of our last house all by myself without one piece of painter’s tape thanks to Jeff’s expert instruction. And yes, the paint job looked really good. If you want to feel inspired and capable to do some home projects yourself, he hasn’t steered us wrong yet.

  1. A neighbor down the street has one of those “little public library” boxes in their front yard where you take a book, and leave a book. Always a delight. But on a recent walk with the dogs I noticed they added a “dog library” where you take a stick and leave a stick 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I nearly passed away.
